1.- INFOPAT REGISTRATION

 

If you have not set up an account in our portal, you can sign up for free at: http://www.infopat.com.mx/signup.php?lan=esp where you will find a registration form like the following:

 

It is important to provide accurate data when you register since our system will verify the information with different checking methods that can block the registration process when detect any false data.

 

2.- INFOPAT LOG IN

 

In order to access the information stored in INFOPAT you must enter your user name (the e-mail address you entered when you registered in INFOPAT) and password (the same one you entered when you registered).

You access INFOPAT by pressing the “Log In” button located in the lower right corner of INFOPAT’s main navigation bar:

 

 

Once you click the Log In button a sign up screen will appear as follows:

 

 

After you enter your log in data the system will display your name in the lower left corner of INFOPAT’s main navigation bar, as shown in the following image:

 

 

 

Once you access the system you will be able to get valuable information from our site such as bibliography for thousands of patents and applications; purchase of patent documents, news alerts, patents and applications. You will also be able to manage your INFOPAT account.

 

 

3.-ACCOUNT MANAGING.

 

 

To manage your INFOPAT account you need to press the My Account button, located in the lower right corner of the site’s navigation bar.

 

 

 

 

Once you access your account you will be able to change your password, configure your new patents, requests and news alerts. The system will display a screen similar to the following:

 

 

 

 

 

3.1 Change of Password.

 

You can modify the password you use to log into our Mexican patents portal. To do it click on the “Change Password” link on the My Account in Detail window which will take you to the Change Password screen shown below:

 

 

You can modify your password by entering a new password and confirming it. If you prefer not to change your password, press the “back” button and you will return to the My Account in Detail screen.

 

 

 

 

3.2 Alerts on New Patents and Patent Applications.

 

Alerts are a service provided by INFOPAT which sends you e-mails with the latest information on patents, patent applications or news that have been published in INFOPAT’s portal. These alerts are configured so you get only the information you are interested in.
To receive the alerts in your e-mail you must log into your account management screen as shown in step number 2 of these instructions. Once you access the corresponding screen follow the “New Patents Alerts” link to go to the following screen:

 

 

 

As the screen shows, alerts can be configured by entering keywords and phrases, separated by commas. Once you enter the information you need, you will receive an e-mail about new patents and/or applications published in INFOPAT.

Note: In the example shown above the same keywords were used for both patents and patent applications. However, you can configure alerts according to your interests without using the same words in both fields.

Once you have configured your alerts, a confirmation e-mail similar to the following will be sent to you.

 

 

The e-mail will include the keywords or phrases that you configured in your account.
Once INFOPAT data bases are updated you will receive patent or application Alerts*.

The e-mail will have the following text format:

 

 

 

 

 

As the previous example shows, the e-mail includes a link to INFOPAT’s portal which will allow you to access the corresponding information for each patent and/or application recently published on our site, matching the keyword(s) you entered in your alerts configuration.

 

 

3.3 Latest News Alerts.

 

As part of the alerts services, you can also receive e-mails with the latest news on industrial property published in INFOPAT. To configure your latest news alerts log into your account’s management screen as explained in step number 2 of these instructions and click on the “Latest News Alerts” link to enter the configuration screen like the one shown below:

 

 

 

As the above image shows, you can configure your news alerts by writing down the keyword (s) or phrase (s) you are interested in, separated by commas.
Once you have entered your keyword(s) INFOPAT will send a confirmation e-mail of your news alerts which will allow you to verify that your alerts are exactly the same as the ones you defined previously.

 

As new information arrives in our database you will receive news alerts, according to the information selected in your news alerts configuration screen, avoiding redundancy.
The news alerts e-mail will be similar to the following:

 

 

 

As you can see from the image above, the screen includes a link to INFOPAT’s portal which allows you to access the latest information published on our site corresponding to the keyword (s) you configured in your alerts.

* The update information is obtained from the Gaceta de la Propiedad Industrial published by the Instituto Mexicano de la Propiedad Industrial.
